Dental implants support a lifetime of healthy and confident smiles!

At Let’s Smile Dental, the health of your teeth and gums is, of course, our priority. However, we are also committed to each patient’s wellbeing and overall health. Our dentist, Dr. Imran Ahmed, is selective about the products, techniques, treatments, and technologies he introduces to our New York, New York practice. All services and amenities support quality care, optimal treatment outcomes, and safe, gentle, convenient, and comfortable patient experiences. Dr. Ahmed also strives to create value. Due to our focus on exceptional quality, your new or rebuilt smile will “hold up” for many years to come, even a lifetime.

Dental implants are an excellent fit with these principles and the other durable and aesthetic treatments available at our practice. If Dr. Ahmed cannot preserve the natural tooth in partnership with our patients, he may recommend prompt replacement with implants.

The “basics”

The implant itself is a cylindrical-shaped portion of a new tooth. Traditional forms of tooth replacement, such as dental bridges, have only accounted for the tooth’s visible part: the natural crown. These conventional options did not account for the rest of the tooth, which is critical to the healthy, highly functional design of natural teeth. Each implant functions as a tooth root. It “roots” or stabilizes the replacement teeth to the jaw. In this manner, dental implant-retained or implant-supported teeth are truly groundbreaking. They mimic the design of natural teeth. This approach promotes the most natural appearance, feel in the mouth, and function when eating food, speaking, or otherwise “using” your teeth.

The many benefits

Additionally, as a practice that focuses on treating the “whole patient,” not just their teeth and gums, we value that dental restorations, supported by implants, promote long-term health. The bone in our jaw retains its shape and strength due to the “exercise” it gets from the teeth connected to it. Every time you grind down food, for instance, your teeth keep the surrounding jawbone healthy.

This process is similar to running, weight training, or other forms of exercise to keep your muscles healthy and strong. But, as with muscles, the tissue shrinks when the bone does not get the exercise or stimulation needed (due to tooth loss). Destructive bone loss alters the appearance of your face, aging you, and it can also make existing problems with speech or eating much worse.

Dental implant-retained crowns, bridges, and dentures prevent bone loss.

And the process of getting implants is relatively straightforward. The implant is strategically placed in the jaw. The implant is made from a biocompatible (tissue-friendly) material designed to integrate into the bone. Once the implant has integrated or healed, it is effectively a part of the jaw. The new tooth (or teeth) can then be connected to the implant. Since the replacement teeth are joined to the jaw via the implant in the bone, they are not going anywhere!

You can smile, laugh, speak, and eat your favorite foods with confidence! To find out more about options to restore or maintain your smile appeal and health, call (212) 831-8940 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ahmed.

Dental implants are titanium roots, that are replaced with in the jawbone to resemble a tooth or group of teeth. A screw is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. A porcelain crown is then attached to the screw to become the new tooth or teeth. They can be used to support dental prosthesis including crowns, dentures, and bridges. Today’s treatments are so natural looking, no one will know you had surgery. There’s approximately a 95% success rate for all implants. With modern advances in dentistry, some implants can be restored immediately with life like all porcelain crowns. For more details ask your dentist.
