Invisalign® – the modern way to comfortably straighten teeth (without braces!)

Invisalign® is considered the modern approach to straightening teeth and correcting “bad bite,” overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, and other imbalances. Instead of using braces that are secured or fixed to the teeth, Invisalign® uses a series of clear aligner trays to reposition the teeth incrementally. The aligners are made on digital scans and 3-dimensional models of your teeth. So, they precisely fit your mouth to facilitate predictable tooth movement throughout treatment.

The aligners are also:

• Smooth, they do not rub up against the insides of the mouth
• Nearly invisible in the smile because they are made from a transparent plastic
• Removable, so you can eat your favorite foods throughout the process and effectively clean your teeth

Periodically, our dentists will visit with you to ensure that treatment is on schedule. You will also receive the next sets of aligner trays that correspond with the upcoming treatment during your visit. It is critical to wear the aligners as directed by us. Typically, that means wearing the aligner for at least 20 to 22 hours each day. A good rule of thumb is to only remove the tray when eating, brushing, and flossing. Be sure to wear the trays in the correct order. Failure to wear as directed can delay treatment.

On average, patients straighten their teeth in about 12 months. However, each patient’s needs and experiences are unique. Invisalign® can correct mildly crowded or crooked teeth, as well as more complex bite problems. Total treatment time generally corresponds with the extent of misalignment that needs to be corrected, as well as patient compliance (proper wear).
